About Opera North

Opera North is the premier professional summer music festival of the Upper Valley. Founded in 1982 and based in Lebanon, NH, it is the only full-time professional opera company serving the tri-state region of New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. Throughout its history, Opera North has focused on bringing classic musical theatre – in a myriad of styles – to the region, working with noted international artists, designers and directors.

Each summer, Opera North produces three mainstage productions of classic operas and musical theatre, performed in repertory at Lebanon Opera House, as well as a series of concerts and special events at landmark locations in the Upper Valley.

Summerfest 2018 – Opera North’s 36th season – runs July 13 to August 14 and will feature two mainstage productions – Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffmann and Rossini’s Barber of Seville – at Lebanon Opera House, an immersive circus-themed show – Singers & Swingers – at Blow-Me-Down Farm in Cornish, New Hampshire, plus concerts at historic locations around the region.

Opera North’s Resident Artist program provides young professional artists with experience and education to further their careers and, through its Education & Outreach Program, Opera North takes free performances of music theatre to local elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as public libraries around the area.
