Opera North is exceptionally proud of the collaborative effort that has resulted in its 2010 production of the children’s opera Noye’s Fludde by Benjamin Britten, a wonderful modern take on a classic tale. Opera North will stage this story of Noah’s Ark on May 16th at the Lebanon United Methodist Church in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Children take center stage singing and portraying animals on the ark, led by UVMC Children’s Choral Director Becky Luce. ON Artistic Director Louis Burkot conducts and Production Director Ron Luchsinger stages this enchanting opera. Community kids ages six to fifteen will construct and enter the ark “two-by-two.” The opera will be performed on at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM and will be offered free of charge to friends, family, and opera lovers. Noye’s Fludde also will incorporate musicians from throughout the Upper Valley. A former ON Young Artist, Jennifer Hansen, will sing the role of Noah’s wife, while a youth orchestra guided by professional section leaders will be joined by community players. This piece will unite professional artists, developing musicians, and individuals who love to make music. |
