Resident Artist Program
Opera North's Resident Artist Program invites exceptionally talented young professionals, who are recognized on a national level, to form Opera North’s seasonal core company.
Since its inception in 1983, over 700 singers and 100 conductors, coaches and directors have participated in the program and a select group of these artists have made major debuts at important opera companies around the world, including: The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, La Scala, and The Royal Opera House.
In 2018, sixteen singers, pianists, and stage directors from around the US were chosen from over 700 applicants. For two months, they worked with world-class directors, designers, and conductors preparing for roles in the season's productions: Singers and Swingers, Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann, and Rossini's Barber of Seville – in addition to showcasing their talents at several concerts around the Upper Valley.
Resident Artists return to the Upper Valley as part of Opera North’s Education and Outreach programs, offering free public performances for over 3,000 students and adults throughout the year
