Fiddler on the Roof, “If I Were a Rich Man”, Sunrise, Sunset”, “Tradition” and more. The beloved Broadway hit story of an epic family, led by patriarch Tevye, and their journey through displacement, passionate laughter, and community. Winner of 9 Tony Awards, plus 5 Broadway Revivals by Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick and Joseph Stein.
This Broadway star holds the roots of everyone’s story in a nation where everyone but the First Nations has come from “away.” Everyone dreams of a better place, a better life, while holding close to home. Set in Imperial Russia’s “Pale of Settlement” (now Ukraine) in 1905, the story surrounds Tevye, who tries to sustain his Jewish traditions in the face of outside influences that draw his three older daughters to the modern concept of marrying for love, not practicality. Their emotional journeys are soon overshadowed by the tsar’s order that evicts the Jewish families from their village. The original Broadway production ran for more than 3,000 performances.
